Why a weighted grade calculator

Course grades are made of several components with different weights, and hand-calculating the weighted average is error-prone. A dynamic table matches the syllabus precisely.

How it works

Final grade equals the sum of (component score times weight) divided by the sum of weights. Weights are normalized, multiplied by scores and summed to get the overall percentage.

A quick example

Participation 30% (score 90), midterm 30% (80), final 40% (70) - weighted equals (90 times 30 plus 80 times 30 plus 70 times 40) divided by 100, which is 79.
